It that time of year again, when Swedes around the world long for a so called “Semla” . The official Semla day is the “Fettisdagen” , and 2018 it takes place on the 13/2!

The “Semla”  is a small, wheat flour bun, flavoured with cardamom and filled with almond paste and whipped cream. The traditions of semla are rooted in fettisdag (Shrove Tuesday, or Fat Tuesday) when the buns were eaten at a last celebratory feast before the Christian fasting period of Lent. At first, a semla was simply a bun, eaten soaked in hot milk (known as hetvägg). Source: www.sweden.se

If you live in London there are many places where you can get your hands on these delicious buns. To mention a few: TotallySwedish, Bageriet, Scandinavian Kitchen….

Here at “Bilingual By Music “we obviously enjoy music! And a Semla! Combining the two gives you this lovely little song and video by Patrik Agemalm. We looooooove it!!!
